Simon Black is CEO of leading fintech PPRO which provides high performing digital payments infrastructure to global businesses and banks so that they can scale their payment services rapidly and without friction. Since Simon took over in 2015, PPRO has grown from around 50 to over 500 people and enables some of the world’s leading payment companies including PayPal, Ant Group 1 and Stripe. Simon is passionate about driving financial inclusion and promoting economic growth which PPRO impacts by powering frictionless cross border e-commerce. Before joining PPRO, Simon spent a decade at Sage, where he delivered 10x growth for Sage Pay (now rebranded Opayo), the payment service provider within Sage Group. He helped them become the UK ´s #1 payment gateway for SMEs and also led the creation of Sage One, a market leading online accounting and payroll application. Simon is based in London and has appeared in the global media, including the BBC, ITV, CCTV and the Financial TImes, as well as being a regular speaker at important industry and investor conferences. Earlier on in his career, he founded a marketing SaaS start-up and worked for a global technology and financial services firm as a strategy and brand consultant. Simon lived in the US for six years where he gained an MBA from Georgetown University.
